Xianshan’ao Fort

Xianshan’ao Fort is a cultural relic protection unit of Wenling City.

Xianshan’ao Fort is located at the summit of Xiazui Mountain in Xianshan’ao Village, Shitang Town, Wenling City, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province. The fort faces the sea and is surrounded by mountains, occupying a strategically important position. It is circular in shape, built with stacked stone blocks and lime mortar for joints, with a radius of 1.43 meters and a height of 2.72 meters. The entrance faces north. The eastern, southern, and western sides face the sea and are equipped with seven gun ports. Approximately 10 meters away from the fort, there is a trench. The trench follows the mountain terrain, is about 0.2–0.8 meters deep, around 1.2 meters wide, and approximately 27 meters long. According to local residents, the fort was built by the People’s Liberation Army in the early years after liberation to combat bandits and other threats.

Xianshan’ao Village: Xianshan’ao Village is located in the southeastern part of Shitang Town, surrounded by the sea, with a beautiful environment and very pleasant climate. The village covers a total area of 1.36 square kilometers and is situated in a coastal hilly forest zone, classified as a natural scenic area. Xianshan’ao Village has a total of 417 households, 1,335 residents, and 37 Party members. It is considered a mid-sized village, with 27 steel fishing boats, one chemical factory, one seafood market, two oil depots, one Hongjia Food Freezing Factory, one shipyard, and one ice-making plant.
