Laowu Mountain Kiln Site

The Laowu Mountain Kiln Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Wenling City.

The Laowu Mountain Kiln Site is located at the eastern end of Tangling Village, Daxi Town, Wenling City, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province. Judging from the unearthed artifacts' shapes and glaze colors, it is identified as a kiln site from the Song Dynasty. Facing south, the site stretches 200 meters east-west along the mountainside and 50 meters north-south from the slope to the farmland ridge. The total area of the ruins is approximately 10,000 square meters, with deposit layers ranging from 1 to 7 meters thick. The kiln includes various cylindrical saggars of different sizes, waisted types, spacer pads, and supports. Artifacts found include bottles, pots, jars, bowls, plates, and cosmetic boxes, with shapes such as flared mouths and curled rims. The glazes are closely bonded to the body, mostly in bluish-gray and blue-green hues, with thick glazes exhibiting a lustrous and moist finish. Decorative techniques include incised patterns, applied reliefs, and underglaze painting. The Laowu Mountain Kiln Site holds significant historical and cultural value for the study of ancient ceramic history in Wenling.

Tangling Village: Named after Tanglingjiao, where it is located, the village is commonly referred to as Tangling. It is 5.5 kilometers from the town government seat. To the northeast lies Xiayuanshan Village, to the southwest is Tangshan Village, and to the north it borders the Da Tangling area, adjacent to Tanglingxia Village of Huangyan Yuanqiao. In 2014, the village collective income was 800,000 yuan, with an average annual per capita income of 22,393 yuan for farmers. The village administers four natural villages: Xiazhu, Dongzhu, Xizhu, and Shuangbanqiao. It currently has 470 households, 1,560 residents, and 41 Party members.
