The Changyu Quarry Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Zhejiang.

The Changyu Quarry Site is located on Changyu Mountain in Xinhe Town, Wenling City, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province. Its quarrying history dates back to the Six Dynasties period, reached large-scale mining by the Song Dynasty, and developed into a cave landscape that influenced religion and literature during the Ming and Qing dynasties, boasting a history of over 1,500 years. It consists of more than a thousand caves and numerous stepped shafts, with a total volume of 6 million cubic meters. The Changyu mining area primarily extracted slate. Based on the features of the existing mine cavities and indicators of productive capacity, the slate extraction methods in Changyu can be divided into three types: open-pit, semi-open-pit, and underground. The main procedures and processes for slate quarrying include: facing the rock → orienting and trial extraction → rock heading → breaking → pinning → propping and marking → chiseling → extracting slabs. The Changyu stone was mainly used for constructing city walls, bridges, seawalls, sluice gates, roads, residences, temples, and household items. Since the Song Dynasty, the quarry site has been utilized as a venue for religious and tourism activities.

The Changyu Quarry Site is a rare ancient and modern mining site, serving as an important location for geological study and research on quarrying techniques and history.
