Xiayuanshan Kiln Site
The Xiayuanshan Kiln Site is a cultural heritage site under the protection of Wenling City.
The Xiayuanshan Kiln Site is located in Xiayuanshan Village, Daxi Town, Wenling City, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province. Judging from the unearthed artifacts' shapes and glaze colors, it is identified as a kiln site dating back to the Tang to the Five Dynasties period. The kiln remains are distributed across slopes in the village, including areas such as Yushan, Huangniyuan, and Lingkou. The total area covers approximately 30,000 square meters, with accumulation layers about 1 to 2 meters thick. Over 20 types of artifacts have been found, including pots, bowls with jade-disc bases, bottles, double-handled jars, water droppers, basins, and bowls. The glazes are mainly bluish-green or yellowish-green, with a small number of opaque glazes, soy sauce-colored glazes, and white-glazed pieces. The glazes are lustrous and moist. Decorative patterns such as lotus flowers and fishing motifs are incised or carved. The Xiayuanshan Kiln Site holds significant historical and cultural value for the study of ancient ceramic history in Wenling.
