The Beacon Tower Ruins
The Beacon Tower Ruins are located on Piyun Mountain in Chengnan Village, Xinhe Town, Wenling City, Zhejiang Province. According to local accounts and architectural features, they were built during the Hongwu era of the early Ming Dynasty. The ruins consist of a stepped square platform constructed from block stones, standing 3 meters high, with a base that is 9 meters long on each side and a top that is 7 meters long on each side. Approximately two meters to the left of the eastern side of the ruins lies a pair of stone flagpole holders, which are 130 cm tall, 27 cm wide, and 12 cm thick. The outer eastern side features two recessed grooves on the upper and lower sections, each containing one round hole at the top and bottom respectively. It is said that these flagpole holders were used by Zhu Xi when he observed the tides, raised flags, and issued commands from atop Piyun Mountain.
Chengnan Village: Chengnan Village is situated in the central part of Xinhe Town, covering a total area of 0.5 square kilometers, with a total cultivated land area of 193 mu. The village comprises 7 villager groups, with a registered population of 395 households and 1,106 people, as well as 128 non-local residents. The village has a two-committee team of 10 members, including 51 Party members, 34 villager representatives, 3 members of the Village Supervision Committee, and 3 members of the Elderly Committee. There are 27 enterprises and 25 privately rented houses in the village. The village collective economy generates an annual income of 700,000 yuan.
