Xiandu Fangyan Scenic Area is a national scenic spot.

Situated 7 kilometers east of Jinyun County in Lishui Prefecture, Zhejiang Province, Xiandu Fangyan is a national key scenic area celebrated for its extraordinary peaks and rocks, and enchanting natural beauty that combines pastoral landscapes with historical and cultural sites. It is a picturesque destination with clear mountains, beautiful waters, stunning scenery, and a pleasant climate. The area boasts the winding Lianxi Stream and a ten-mile scenic corridor, where the landscape appears ethereal amid drifting clouds and mist. It has been famous since the Sui Dynasty. Historical records indicate that in the seventh year of the Tang Dynasty's Tianbao era (748 AD), Magistrate Miao Fengqian reported to the imperial court that the mountain was often surrounded by colorful, swirling clouds, with the sound of music echoing through the valleys and the forests glowing with radiance. Emperor Xuanzong of Tang was so impressed that he exclaimed, “This is truly a gathering place of immortals!” He personally inscribed the two characters “仙都” (Xiandu, meaning “Immortal Capital”), and the name has been used ever since. Xiandu Mountain, anciently known as “Jinyun Mountain,” is ranked alongside Huangshan and Lushan as one of the Three Imperial Palaces of the Yellow Emperor—specifically, one of the “Three Heavenly Capitals.” Taoist scriptures refer to Xiandu as the “Mysterious Capital and Immortal-Seeking Grotto Heaven,” ranking as the 29th of the Thirty-Six Minor Grotto Heavens. The area flourished as a center for Taoism and Buddhism, and features numerous historic structures such as the Huangdi Temple (Yuxu Palace), Huanglong Temple, Qizhen Temple, Miaoting Guan, Jinyun Hall, Nangong Temple, Wushang Marquis Temple, and Dufeng Academy. Among these, the “Huangdi Temple” is the largest and serves as a sacred site where descendants of the Yan and Huang emperors worship their ancestors. The Xiandu Scenic Area stretches approximately 10 kilometers along both banks of the Lianxi Stream and comprises four sections: Xiandu, Huanglong, Yanmen, and Dayangshan. It includes over 300 scenic spots such as Gufu Rock, Little Red Cliff, Niweng Cave, Dinghu Peak, and Furong Gorge, encompassing 72 unique peaks and 18 historic sites. The total area spans 166.2 square kilometers.

Xiandu Subdistrict: The Xiandu Scenic Area Management Committee of Jinyun County (commonly referred to as the Xiandu Management Committee) and the Xiandu Subdistrict Office operate under one organizational structure with two titles. The committee and the subdistrict office share office space and are jointly responsible for the protection, planning, development, construction, and various other economic and social management functions within the Xiandu Scenic Area. The subdistrict office administers seven administrative villages, covering a total area of 35.9 square kilometers. The area hosts one police station, one primary school, one township health center, and has a total population of 9,862 residents, with an average per capita rural income of 9,388 yuan.
