The Dayang Reservoir Patriotic Education Base in Jinyun County is situated within the territory of Dayang Town, in the southeastern part of the county seat. It is 35 kilometers from Jinyun County and 5 kilometers from Dayang Town, at an altitude of 800 meters, covering an area of over 5,500?. The Dayang Reservoir started construction on August 1, 1970, and was completed in April 1973. It is a Grade III project and functions primarily as a flood control reservoir while also providing integrated benefits such as power generation, irrigation, and water supply. The key structures of the reservoir include the main dam, spillway, power station, water diversion tunnel for power generation, interbasin water diversion project, and connecting tunnel to Xiakeng Reservoir. The main dam stands 47.5 meters high with a crest length of 170 meters. The reservoir has a total storage capacity of 15.08 million cubic meters and covers a water surface area of 1,150 mu. Seven cascade hydropower stations have been built along the Panxi River downstream of the reservoir. In 1979, the World Small Hydropower Conference was held here and received high praise from experts representing over forty countries and regions. It was designated as the experimental base for the International Small Hydropower Training Center in the Asia-Pacific region. In 1995, it was awarded the title of Jinyun City Patriotic Education Base. In recent years, the base has made full use of its resources to display historical materials such as the "Pan Electricity Ode" and related images and video footage of the reservoir’s construction. These exhibits showcase how the people of Jinyun, with great creativity and determination, achieved the remarkable feats of constructing the Dayang Reservoir and various levels of hydropower stations. The base is committed to enhancing the relevance and effectiveness of patriotic education, ensuring that the “Pan Electricity Spirit” is inherited amid transformation and carried forward in the construction of the new century.

Dayang Town: Located in the southeastern part of Jinyun County, the town government is headquartered in Qiancun Village, 39 kilometers southeast of the county seat. The town is named after the “Dayang Mountain” within its boundaries. It borders Xianju County and Yongjia County to the east, Qingtian County to the southwest, Shijian Township to the west, and Dayuan Town, Huyuan Township, and Fangxi Township to the north.
