Yuping Mountain is located in Xingwang Village, about twenty li southeast of Shicheng in southern Zhejiang. It is known as "Half of Two Mountains" and covers an area of more than 1,800 square meters, belonging to a typical subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest. Legend has it that the mountain was split in half after being deceived by a feng shui master who kicked it with one foot; another story says there is a male dragon beneath the mountain, so it serves as a feng shui mountain to lock in the energy. Since ancient times, it has remained lush and green, and the village never welcomes the dragon lanterns to prevent it from emerging and causing fires.

The practice of building up soil and planting trees in the mountains began in the Song Dynasty. The trees on the mountain are mainly evergreen broad-leaved hardwoods, most of which are excellent building materials. Due to the long-standing practice of forest conservation, even villagers were not allowed to enter freely. The largest recorded instance of large-scale tree cutting was during the construction of Panxi Middle School (1956). It is now a provincial-level ecological public welfare forest. At the foot of the mountain, there are two stone walls of varying degrees of completeness, exuding an antique charm and a unique aesthetic. Near the mountain, several ruins show wood, stone, and earth having merged seamlessly, with several stone blocks and gnarled tree roots growing intimately together. The outer stone wall remains largely intact, stretching fifty to sixty meters in length and standing about one meter outside the mountain base—an impressive sight.

Xingwang Village: Xingwang Village has a long history, with people gathering here as early as the Zhao and Song Dynasties. By the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1578), Wang Renqi, the seventh-generation descendant of the Sanhuai Hall and also known as Wang Rensheng (or Wang Sun), led his wife and children from Sanbu at Sanlindazhangshuqiao in Xianju to settle at the foot of Yuping Mountain. From then on, this land flourished, with descendants thriving continuously. Later, the Li family also migrated here from Baotang in Fujian.

Xingwang Village was historically called Zhenxi Tangtou, a name derived from the village’s location along the banks of Zhenxi, with “Shuitangtou” still used as a place name in the village today.
