Dao Door Jinshi Mansion

Dao Door Jinshi Mansion is a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

In Daomen Natural Village, Xishi Village, there stands a grand ancient building. This old residence was the mansion of Shi Hualin, a martial arts jinshi during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty and a guerrilla general of Quanzhou, Fujian. Commonly known as "Conggong Hall," "General’s Mansion," or also referred to as "You Mansion," it is now a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit.

Historical records indicate that Shi Hualin, childhood name Shi Wenbin, was born in the fifth month of the Renxu year during the Tongzhi era. He passed the imperial examination as a juren (recommended man) in the Renwu year of the Guangxu reign and became a jinshi in the Jiachou year. He successively held positions such as Camp Commandant (imperial guards in the capital), Military Secretariat Aide (messenger for the Ministry of War’s confidential bureau), and Commandant-Diplomatic Envoy. Later, due to secretly aiding the Hundred Days' Reform and offending Empress Dowager Cixi, he was transferred to serve as the Guerrilla General of Quanzhou, Front Command, Fujian. He earned multiple military merits in battles against pirates and repelling foreign incursions into Fujian, eventually earning the favor of Empress Dowager Cixi.

The entire mansion complex spans a total width of 52 meters and a depth of 53 meters, covering an area of 2,836 square meters. It consists of three main parts: the main building, two side auxiliary buildings, and the Qingyun Tower. The architecture of the mansion replicates the layout of the Guerrilla General’s Mansion in Quanzhou, Fujian, albeit on a slightly smaller scale, forming a tightly fortified military stronghold. Though aged today, stepping inside still allows one to sense the former might and splendor of the general’s residence.

Huzhen Town: Located in Jinyun County, Huzhen Town sits upstream of the Haoxi River, a tributary of the Ou River, at the northernmost part of Lishui. It lies at the junction of Lishui, Jinhua, and Taizhou cities, and within the hinterlands of Jinyun, Yongkang, Pan’an, and Xianju counties and cities. It is one of the three major ancient towns in southern Zhejiang. The town is 25 kilometers from the county seat, covers a total area of 228 square kilometers, and has a population of 100,000 (including 20,000 migrants).
