Hongji Bridge in Wangcunkou

Spanning between Qiaodong and Qiuxi villages in Wangcunkou, it was an ancient key passageway from Quzhou to Fujian. Initially built during the Ming Dynasty and originally named Jichuan Stone Bridge, it underwent several renovations and was renamed Hongji Bridge in the early years of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. It is an X-frame wooden beam covered bridge with a corridor. The bridge is 31 meters long, 5.4 meters wide, and 9 meters high, with four beams spanning the river, suspended over the water and supported below by two intertwining chinaberry wood pillars each as thick as a person's embrace. The beams are topped with hardwood planks, and the bridge is covered with nine roofed sections, each with windows on both sides. On August 26, 1935 (the 24th year of the Republic of China), Hong Jiayun, Political Commissar of the Second Column of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army Advance Division and member of the Southwest Zhejiang Special Committee, announced the establishment of the Wangcunkou Soviet Government on the bridge. In June 1936, Xu Xin, Secretary of the Southwest Zhejiang Special Committee of the Communist Party of China, presided over a mass meeting on the bridge, where Su Yu, Commander of the Advance Division, gave a speech on anti-Japanese propaganda.

Wangcunkou Town: Located at the southwestern edge of Suichang County, at the foot of the Jiulong Mountain Nature Reserve, Wangcunkou Town borders Ankou Township and Shilian Town to the east, Longyang Township to the south, Caiyuan Township to the west, and Jiaotan Township to the north. The town government is located in Qiaodong Village, 50 kilometers from the county seat. In 1992, following district dissolution, town expansion, and township mergers, Guanchuan and Duizheng townships were incorporated into Wangcunkou Town, bringing the total area to 165 square kilometers, including 481 hectares of arable land and 15,425 hectares of forest.
