Chisong Palace

The Chisong Palace Scenic Tourism Area is located 15 kilometers north of Chisong Town, adjacent to the national-level Shuanglong Scenic Area. The Chisong Palace Scenic Area covers a total area of 14.1 square kilometers. The area is surrounded by mountains, with rolling peaks and picturesque scenery. Within the scenic area are sites such as Liandan Mountain, Wolingshan Mountain, Erxian Palace, Wang Huai’s Tomb, and Chisong Mountain Villa.

Chisong Palace was the place where the Taoist brothers Huang Buxian and Huang Buchu of the Jin Dynasty cultivated themselves and attained enlightenment. With a history of over 1,700 years, it has left behind a rich cultural heritage. The culture of the Golden Immortal (Huang Daxian) has spread far and wide to Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Europe and America, with followers of Huang Daxian found all around the world. At the same time, Chisong Palace has also become a sacred pilgrimage site for these devotees to return to their spiritual roots.

Throughout the dynasties, literati have left numerous poems and essays about this place. Stories such as Huang Daxian turning stones into sheep have been passed down through the ages. “Pine trees age by Chisong’s ancient stream, / Amid the pines, the temple stands just the same. / All people have siblings, but who can share the path with immortals? / A pair of cranes soars into the sky, / While flocks of sheep turn to stone and sleep. / To this day, the water in the elixir well / Fills the northern hills with fragrant steam.”

Through construction in recent years, the Chisong Palace Scenic Area has become a tourist destination that combines sightseeing, historical pilgrimage, and summer retreats.
