Tomb of Dayanhe

The Tomb of Dayanhe is a cultural relic protection unit of Jindong District.

A county-level key cultural relics protection unit. Located in the mountain fields about 1 km north of Fantianjiang Village, Bocun Town. Dayanhe (1878–1924), a member of the Cao family, was a child bride raised as a daughter-in-law and an ordinary poor Chinese woman. She served as the wet nurse to the renowned contemporary poet Ai Qing. In 1933, while in prison, Ai Qing wrote his breakthrough work "Dayanhe—My Wet-Nurse." From then on, the name Dayanhe transcended mountains and rivers, becoming a symbol of Chinese working women and living on in the hearts of millions of readers. The tomb site covers half an acre, and the gravestone bears the inscription "Tomb of Dayanhe," personally written by Ai Qing.

In May 1992, the Jinhua County People's Government erected a large bluestone poetry stele in front of the tomb. The front side is engraved with a line from Ai Qing’s poem: “Dayanhe, my wet-nurse, I respect you and love you;” the back side features an inscription written by the famous calligrapher Jiang Dongshu, providing a brief biography of Dayanhe.
