Jidao Mountain

The Jidao Mountain Scenic Area covers a total area of 12.8 square kilometers and is a symbol of the landscape of Jinhua. The solitary mountain rises abruptly from the ground, featuring a majestic and striking profile.

From the summit, the scenery spanning dozens of square kilometers can be viewed in one sweeping glance. Qixing Mountain (Seven Stars Embracing the Moon) consists of seven small hills scattered in an artful arrangement around a crescent-shaped pond. The hills are gently rounded, with smooth undulations, delicate and translucent, as if stars adoring the moon — a truly beautiful landscape.

Zhishan Mountain resembles a fan in shape, stretching continuously and standing abruptly before Huiming Rock. Gexianwu is said to be the place where the immortal Ge Hong refined elixirs. The valley is deep and densely forested, with graceful peaks and grotesque rocks scattered about, and cascading waterfalls that are highly captivating. When clouds and mist rise, the mountain peaks appear and disappear intermittently, creating a mysterious and enchanting atmosphere that is truly intoxicating. Shiyangpo features clusters of rocks, three or five together, said to be the goats herded by Ge Hong — they look intimate and full of charm.

The area contains peculiar peaks and rocks such as “Tianmen (Heaven’s Gate),” “Camel Ridge Stacked with Greenery,” “Stone Buddha Peak,” “Chicheng Flowing Glow,” “Tiger Roaring Rock,” “Dingguang Stone Buddha,” “Elixir Refining Stone,” “Heavenly Scripture Stele,” and “Tianzhu Cloud Stone.” Some are named for their shapes, which are vividly lifelike; others are associated with ancient and mystical legends, making them incredibly captivating.

The scenic area boasts well-preserved, diverse forest vegetation and rich landscapes. There are neatly arranged, lush “Green Forests and Whispering Pines,” fragrant orchards of oranges and peaches; slopes covered in the red splendor of “Jidao Azalea Glow,” and the white, fragrant blossoms of “Mountain Gardenia Fragrance”; as well as ancient, gnarled trees and the graceful “Waterfront Chinese Fir Forest.”

The area’s streams, lakes, waterfalls, and pools display graceful charm and distinctive beauty. Huiming Stream has a long history, winding through steep cliffs and flat plains, cascading playfully with pleasant gurgling sounds. Shanhe Lake has a broad surface, with a winding shoreline and islands like scattered pearls. Yinglong Waterfall plunges down from the narrow valley cliffs, resembling a dancing silver dragon. Peach Blossom Pool is crystal clear and azure, with peach groves along its banks that burst into bloom in March, attracting bees and butterflies — a scene full of poetic and picturesque charm. Forests, mountains, and water bodies blend naturally and ingeniously, forming a stunning and varied mountain-water panorama that brings vitality and vigor to the scenic area.
