Ai Qing’s Former Residence is a cultural tourism attraction and a patriotic education base.

Ai Qing’s Former Residence is located in Fantianjiang Village, Fu Town, and was home to one of China’s renowned modern poets. The residence faces south and features a traditional quadrangle courtyard layout. The main structure consists of a single-entry hall building, flanked by wing rooms on both sides. A corridor connects the gables at the rear of the wings, enclosing the space into a closed courtyard. The site covers an area of 200 square meters.

Ai Qing’s Former Residence holds important value for researching how Ai Qing evolved from an ordinary citizen into a literary master. In the early 1960s, the central part of the residence was sold by his paternal aunt, Madam Chen, to Jiang Guangdou, a fellow villager. In the early 1980s, the small eastern wing room was also sold to Jiang Guangdou. Today, the residence is maintained by Jiang Guangdou’s family. After Ai Qing’s passing, the site was opened to visitors, displaying photos and biographical information about the poet.

Fantianjiang Village: Located in the northern part of Fu Town, Jindong District, Fantianjiang Village is 1.5 kilometers from the town center. The village covers a built-up area of 8.37 hectares, with 520 households, a population of 1,230, 1,500 mu of arable land, and a total industrial and agricultural output value exceeding 15 million yuan. The per capita income is 12,000 yuan.

Fantianjiang Village has a long history. Its founder, Jiang Bocheng, settled here during the early Ming Dynasty after moving from Shantang Village in Yiwu. The village was named after the local terrain and the Jiang surname — Fantianjiang — and is the birthplace of the poetic master Ai Qing.
