The Hengdian China Revolutionary War Expo City is another large-scale national defense and patriotism education base for teenagers, following the Hengdian Red Army Long March Expo City. Covering a total area of about 20,000 acres—with over 98% being mountainous terrain—its entrance is adjacent to that of the Red Army Long March Expo City. This scenic area primarily offers vehicle and self-drive tours, featuring dual-lane roads with an effective width of 8 meters. The 23-kilometer mountain loop road serves as the main tour route, connecting various attractions in an organic sequence that follows the chronological development of revolutionary war history. A secondary 10-kilometer walking trail shortens visiting distances and allows visitors to explore sites up close. The entire scenic area is divided into six sections: 1. The Party History Corridor, which mainly exhibits the meeting sites of the 1st to 7th National Congresses of the Communist Party of China along with relevant historical materials. 2. The Anti-Japanese War Zone, including: the Ancient City of Yan’an; former headquarters of the Eighth Route Army and New Fourth Army; sites themed around tunnel warfare, landmine warfare, and the Railway Guerrillas; the Wild Man Valley Guerrilla Area; the Sha Jia Bang site; an observation area for anti-Japanese air combat performances; and a memorial area for fallen heroes of the war. 3. The Liberation War Zone, featuring: the former site of the Central Committee at Xibaipo; the former site of Shuangqing Villa; the former site of the Nanjing Presidential Palace; and a demonstration area for the Liberation of Dajiangshan Island. 4. The Central-South Garden Zone. 5. The Hengdian Aircraft Carrier Zone. 6. The Liangdu Holiday Resort. Sites reconstructed at a 1:1 scale, combined with sculptures of famous military figures, vividly recreate the realities of historic battles. Exhibition rooms within the sites display photos, texts, videos, and other modern presentation methods that transport visitors back to the turbulent years of wartime.
