Meiyu Tidal Sound Park

Meiyu Tidal Sound Park is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Meiyu Tidal Sound scenic area is one of the Twenty-Four Scenic Spots of Putian, situated at the northernmost tip of Meizhou Island. Known for its unique wind and sea erosion landforms, the area produces sounds resembling orchestral music and the chiming of bells and drums under the action of tides and waves—thus earning its name. “Since ancient times, melodies of water have played the notes of shang and jue; its roar is like dragons chanting amid wind and rain.” Throughout history, poets and scholars have left behind many poetic verses praising this place.

The park is surrounded by sea on three sides, with rolling hills and layers of lush forests. It features over 20 marine erosion wonders, such as Flying Eagle Rock, Immortals Gathering, Seahorse Gazing at the Moon, and Maiden Playing with a Dog. These formations are made from more than 100 million years old diorite, biotite granite, and diabase, shaped over time by relentless wind and wave erosion.
