Jiàngzhuāng Lǜ Temple

Jiàngzhuāng Lǜ Temple is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangsu Province.

Jiàngzhuāng Lǜ Temple is located at No. 18 Xiyuan Lane, Huqiu Road, outside Changmen, Suzhou.

Also known as Jiàngzhuāng Lǜ Temple, it is commonly called Xiyuan. Established during the Zhiyuan era of the Yuan Dynasty (1264–1294), it was originally named Guīyuán Temple and has a history of over 700 years. The existing structures were rebuilt during the Qing Dynasty. The temple’s Hall of Five Hundred Arhats is one of China’s Four Great Arhat Halls and is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangsu. Anhui Jiuhuashan’s Xiyuan Temple is situated on the mountainside south of Shenguang Ridge and is a national key Buddhist temple. Originally built during the Ming Dynasty and first named Jǐngdé Hall, it was renovated and renamed to its current name in the sixth year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1667) by Yùlín Guóshī’s disciple Zōngyǎn. There is also a Japanese surname, Xiyuanji.
