Suzhou Canal Park

Canal Park is located to the east of Shishan Bridge on Suhu Road in Suzhou. It borders the ancient canal to the west, covering a total area of 170,000 square meters, including 25,000 square meters of water surface, which accounts for 14.7% of the total area, with the remaining 145,000 square meters being land. It is a multifunctional cultural, recreational, and leisure destination with a contemporary vibe. The park features plant-based landscaping, including lush green lawns and vibrant flower terraces. There are also numerous children’s play facilities within the park.

The southern section of the park covers an area of about 3.5 hectares and is accessed through the south gate. The entrance is marked by a 100-meter-long central avenue lined with tall ginkgo trees. At the end of the avenue lies a large botanical emblem flower bed made up of various plants such as juniper, euonymus fortunei, and loropetalum chinense, creating a grand and impressive sight. The southern part mainly uses plants for landscaping, complemented by expansive green areas, offering visitors a range of recreational activities such as playing, relaxing, and flying kites.

The central section of the park spans approximately 9 hectares, featuring a mix of land and water, making it the most activity-rich and concentrated zone within the park. It houses a mini-golf course with a clubhouse, a multifunctional tea house, a boat dock, a Children's Fun Zone, a Health Fun Zone, a kids' activity room, and a Pigeon Square, among others. These colorful recreational amenities are nestled within verdant trees, not only enriching the entertainment options for young people but also enhancing the park’s social and economic value. In terms of plant layout, the area consists of irregular clusters of trees and vast lawns that create a pleasant, natural environment.

The northern section of the park covers around 4.5 hectares and has relatively flat terrain. Visitors can enter through the north gate, where they will find more trees and wide grassy areas. Major facilities here include a swimming pool and its supporting amenities, all open to the public. There is also a 2,000-square-meter greenhouse and six large hothouses.

After more than ten years of development and construction, Canal Park is now shaded by lush trees and adorned with blooming flowers, presenting a beautiful scene of evergreen foliage and seasonal blossoms throughout the year. It serves as an ideal place for local residents to relax, have fun, and stay fit.
