Situated at the northeast corner of the intersection of Tongjing Road and Sufu Road, Tongjing Park spans about 180,000 square meters, making it the largest municipal park in the city center. The park is designed around the three core concepts of "ecology, culture, and technology," using simple design and landscaping methods to embody the modern urban population’s desire for ecological nature and the exploration of high technology. The entire park is encircled by a main loop road with two-way traffic, along which six functional zones are distributed: the entrance area, children's play area, central scenic area, science-themed botanical garden, eco-leisure area, and water scenery area.

In the entrance area, a dynamic landscape sequence featuring a group of sculptures, a suspended fountain, stainless steel cable lights, and a sloped tree-lined area creates the effect of “pearls, large and small, falling onto a jade plate.” A dense grove separates the children's play area from the main entrance, forming a relatively independent and quiet environment. It is equipped with a series of uniquely shaped recreational facilities, providing a playful space for young visitors.

The central scenic area uses a waterfall as its backdrop and adopts classical gardening techniques, incorporating rivers, bridges, pavilions, terraces, corridors, and towers. A gently flowing stream connects cultural wall displays and Suzhou-style gardens situated on both sides of the terrace, resembling a long river of history that showcases the splendid culture and long history of Suzhou over the past five millennia.

The eco-leisure area is primarily greened with plant-based landscapes, featuring pathways, pavilions, and Jiangsu Province’s largest blind-friendly botanical garden, covering an area of 12,200 square meters—the largest of its kind in the province. It is divided into four zones: flower appreciation, branch appreciation, fruit appreciation, and leaf appreciation. The garden houses over 120 varieties of plants and flowers, including nearly 70 types that are non-toxic, thorn-free, and possess distinct olfactory or tactile characteristics. Information is provided in Chinese, English, Braille, and through audio systems, creating diverse accessible routes for blind visitors. The area also includes barrier-free facilities such as handrails, resting pavilions, and toilets suitable for the visually impaired, highlighting principles of resource sharing, humanism, and accessibility.

The water scenery area integrates high-tech and ecological concepts to form a large-scale rockery water feature, presenting the theme of “water as the source of life.” Its grandeur adds a dynamic charm to the entire park.

The entire park employs landscaping elements and modern design techniques such as suspended water curtains, winding waterways, relief murals, native tree species, and spiral lighthouses to create a rich and diverse garden landscape. This reflects the harmonious beauty of modernity and tradition, allowing visitors to genuinely experience a blend of antiquity without losing modernity, modernity without losing nature, and nature infused with profound meaning.
