The Destruction Room serves as a science education base.

Hearing the words “Destruction Room,” citizens must be quite curious. Located at No. 7 Daru Lane in Suzhou, the “Destruction Room” is an interesting venue that encourages children to use their brains and improve their hands-on skills.

Many parents often find that their children are naturally curious about simple household appliances, and kids generally enjoy taking these appliances apart in a destructive manner. Psychological research indicates that children’s “destruction” may stem from curiosity, well-intentioned mistakes, or as a way to vent frustration.

To properly guide children’s curiosity and nurture motivations such as inquisitiveness and activity into good habits of using their hands and minds, the “Destruction Room” provides an ideal platform to satisfy children’s everyday needs for dismantling and playing.

Within the “Destruction Room,” science education volunteers are specially assigned to explain the principles and rules behind the “destruction” of appliances to children. At the same time, they also guide children in disassembling old home appliances and then putting them back together intact. This is definitely a great place to broaden horizons and enhance creative thinking.

It is understood that the “Destruction Room” is open to the public free of charge every Wednesday to Sunday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Interested citizens can take buses such as routes 529, 55, 50, 202, 204, and 501 to check it out.
