The former site of the Kunqu Opera Training Institute is located within the former Lin Machine Factory in Gusu District and dates back to the Republican era.
On August 23, 2019, the former site of the Kunqu Opera Training Institute was designated as part of the eighth batch of cultural heritage protection units in Suzhou.
