Changliu Village

Changliu Village is a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Suzhou.

Changliu Village is located to the north of Chongan Lane inside Xiatang, Changmen. It stretches from Dongjiaochang in the south to Qiantongren Street in the north, from Gong Alley in the east to Jiufu Lane in the west.

This lane-style residential complex was built in the early years of the Republic of China by a wealthy Shanghai businessman. The name of the village combines the names of his two sons, “Chang” and “Liu,” symbolizing an unending flow of wealth. The complex consists of six rows, with an east-west road in front of each row called Changliu Village, each measuring 33 meters in length and 4.5 meters in width.
