In 1952, it merged with Shuguang Middle School and was taken over by the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government, becoming a public school and renamed “Suzhou No. 5 Middle School.” The school site has changed several times, having moved from Fengmen to Dai Chengqiao Kuojiatou Lane, and then to its current location at No. 15 Yici Lane, Changmen, from 1904 onward.
