The modern residential house on Pulin Lane is a Suzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The modern residential house on Pulin Lane is located at Renmin Road (near Pulin Lane entrance) and was designated as a Suzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 1991.

Built in 1924, it originally served as the private residence of a lawyer surnamed Zou and is a Western-style building with a mixed brick-and-wood structure. The traditional Chinese garden that once stood to the south of the building has been demolished. The existing building covers a construction area of 1,326.98 square meters, has two stories, with parts of it extending to three stories. The main entrance faces east, and the ground floor features verandas on the eastern and southern sides, adorned with Roman-style columns. A small square green metal-domed tower rises prominently at the eastern end. The interior has floor-to-ceiling glass windows facing south, ensuring ample lighting and ventilation. The building's exterior façade is richly varied. Inside, the space is divided into multiple rooms including a reception room, dining room, and living room, complete with fireplaces, bathrooms, and a kitchen. The layout is rational and fully functional. The wooden staircase is the most distinctive feature, centrally located and spiraling 360 degrees from bottom to top. Over a decade ago, a fire damaged part of the roof, which was later repaired and converted into a flat rooftop terrace. Fortunately, the small green-domed tower at the eastern end survived the fire and retains its original appearance.
