The former residence of Xi Heming is located at No. 11 Dongshanchang Lane. Dongshanchang Lane starts in the east at Jinshi Riverbank and extends west to Siqian Street, directly opposite Xishanchang Lane. In ancient times, it was a hub for ship repair and construction. From the Ming Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty, it was still called Chuanchang Lane, but by the late Qing Dynasty, it had evolved into its current name.

The Xi Residence is a two-story Western-style house with a covered corridor, constructed with red and blue bricks. It was built in the early Republican era by Xi Heming, a business owner in the paint trade. The western-style gate on the south side still bears the inscription “学圃” (“Xuepu,” meaning “Garden Study”), along with the signature “??” and the date “巳未夏,” which corresponds to the summer of 1919.
