The Liu Family's Five Virtues Hall is located at No. 13 Jiangjia Lane, Chengzhong Community, Baoying County, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. The original Five Virtues Hall had three axes—east, middle, and west—but only the western axis remains today. It was built during the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty. The existing Five Virtues Hall covers an area of 3,000 square meters with a floor space of 1,800 square meters. It faces south and consists of five courtyards, each with five rooms. The first four courtyards have front corridors and pavilions, while the fifth is a two-story structure. There is also a row of six side rooms on the east side, totaling 36 rooms. The windows, beams, and eaves are all exquisitely carved. The original plaque above the first gate bore the inscription “Tai Shi Di” (Residence of the Historian), but it was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. The architectural style of the Five Virtues Hall is characteristic of the mid-Qing period, with “moon beams” and finely carved two-story roof structures. The gable decorations on the exterior walls are elaborate, and there is a square openwork brick carving under the lower eave. The Liu ancestors migrated from Suzhou to Baoying in the 11th year of the Zhengtong era of the Ming Dynasty (1447). This residence belonged to the 12th-generation ancestor, Liu Yanku (also known as Tai Shi Di), and was named Five Virtues Hall after the five principles of “diligent learning, careful inquiry, thoughtful reflection, clear discrimination, and earnest practice” from the “Doctrine of the Mean.” The Liu family has long been known as a family of scholars and refinement, producing many distinguished intellectuals, including the well-known Confucian masters Liu Taigong, Liu Baonan, and Liu Gongmian. The surviving structures of the Five Virtues Hall are large in scale, complete in layout, authentic in style, and rich in cultural significance, making it a rare and intact architectural complex in the old town of Baoying. It is currently inhabited by descendants of the Liu family and other residents.

Protected Area: Extends 1 meter beyond the back wall of the fifth courtyard to the north, and reaches the main gate of the first courtyard to the south; the west boundary is the main building’s west wall, and the east boundary is the back wall of the auxiliary building.

Controlled Zone: Extends from Yetai Road commercial and residential buildings to the north, and to Jiangjia Lane to the south; the west boundary is the western lane (25 meters), and the east boundary is Xisan Yuan Lane.
