Taozu Sacred Land is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Muli Cave Scenic Area of Yixing Taozu Sacred Land is located at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces, 35 kilometers from the city center. Covering an area of 200,000 square meters, it is a renowned scenic tourist destination in China and an important attraction within the first batch of national key scenic areas — the Taihu Lake Scenic Area. It also serves as a student education and practice base and a patriotism education base in Wuxi, as well as a publicly recommended tourist attraction in the city. In August 2004, Yixing’s Top Ten Scenic Spots officially passed the ISO9001 quality management system and the ISO14000 environmental management system certifications, taking a solid step toward being recognized as a national AAAA-level scenic area. The Muli Cave Scenic Area uniquely combines Yixing’s four major natural features: pottery, tea, bamboo, and caves, excelling in all aspects and widely acclaimed by travelers. Owing to its unique formation and excellent geographic location, it boasts lush, layered mountains and uniquely shaped rocks. With first-class ecological conditions, it presents spectacular natural mountain and water views, while its typical geological structures form karst Huanglong caves, masterpieces of nature, creating a stunning natural scroll that offers immense value for sightseeing, tourism, education, scientific research, and cultural and historical appreciation.

The architectural style of the Taozu Sacred Land Scenic Area showcases the charm of ancient Han aesthetics. The entire area centers around Jintang Mountain, with the ancient Muli Cave as its main highlight. It also features the Fan Li Sculpture Square, Xishi Water Feature Square, Stone Forest Spectacle, Fan Li Ancient Kiln, Bamboo Corridor Bridge, Fan’s Herb Garden, Wansha Clear Pool, Wangqi Pavilion, Pottery Art Bar, and holiday villas. The main attraction, Muli Cave, spans over 10,000 square meters with a total tour route of 900 meters. The cave is divided into nine major scenic zones based on the unique flow of underground rivers and the twisting, miraculous natural structure: “Underground Kunlun,” “Dragon Elephant Palace,” “Star Palace,” “Lake Stone Palace,” “Qionglin Palace,” “Jade Bedroom Palace,” “Five Peaks Palace,” “Lantern Festival Palace,” “Goddess Nuwa Palace,” and “Penglai Palace.” These zones feature towering stalactites, rugged rocks, and naturally formed wonders. The walking paths are smooth, leading through serene trails, and boat rides on the water passages shine under sparkling light — suitable for all ages. The uniquely atmospheric caves of Taozu Sacred Land are not only said to be the secret meeting place and retreat of Fan Li and Xishi, but the scenic area’s ecological beauty also makes it a wonderful destination for modern travelers.
