Linggu Cave

The magnificent and spectacular Linggu Cave is located at Yangxian Mountain Villa, 24 kilometers southwest of Yixing City. The Linggu Paradise is entirely a natural geological karst formation, a masterpiece of nature with its extraordinary craftsmanship and diverse landscapes. It consists of seven grand halls: Linggu Literature Garden, Linggu Stage, Confluence of Rivers, Crystal Palace, Immortal Pavilion Hall, Thousand Buddha Mountain, and Dragon Palace Phoenix Mansion, featuring more than thirty unique and exceptional sights. Looking up, countless stalactites twinkle like stars, while rock crevices stretch like the vast Milky Way. Gazing down, sheer cliffs and steep walls plunge deep into the unknown, with swirling clouds evoking the feeling of entering a mystical valley in the heavens. The entire cave spans an area of over 8,200 square meters, with a tour route of 1,200 meters, and also includes two sky bridges. It is interconnected with Shanjuan Cave, Zhanggong Cave, and Yu’nu Pool, forming a natural scenic area renowned as a “Wonder of the Nation.” During the development of the cave, fossils of ancient vertebrate animals were unearthed here, dating back tens of thousands of years to the Late Pleistocene epoch. On the cavern’s ceiling, there is a radiant diamond-shaped stalactite known as the “Heavenly Jade of the Paradise.”

Linggu Cave is located within the Yangxian Tea Plantation in Yixing City, Jiangsu Province. It lies northeast of Zhanggong Cave and not far southwest of Muli Cave and Xishi Cave. With a total length of 1,200 meters and an area of 8,100 square meters, if we compare caves in Yixing’s cave world—where Shanjuan Cave is famed for its river inside the cave that allows boat tours, and Zhanggong Cave stands out for its interconnected chambers and a ray of light from the sky—then Linggu Cave is distinguished by its mountain-like interior, vibrant beauty, and profound magnificence.

The cave is deep and mysterious, with marvelous scenery and richly colored rocks, earning widespread admiration from visitors and thus renowned far and wide as the “Linggu Paradise” or the “Fairyland Divine Palace.” As soon as one enters the cave, they are greeted with a bewildering and fantastical scene. Stepping onto the sky bridge and looking down, one sees steep cliffs and a sensation of floating above the world, with the depths beneath the bridge stretching about 15 meters into a dark, dreamlike void.
