Yixing Sightseeing Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park

The park is located in Dingshu Town, Yixing City — internationally and domestically renowned as the “Pottery Capital” — and lies to the east of the vast Taihu Lake and to the west of the lakeside highway that connects Jiangsu and Zhejiang. The total area of the park is 10,080 mu. It is currently one of the larger-scale, higher-starting-point, faster-developing, and better-implemented agricultural science and technology demonstration parks in southern Jiangsu.

The establishment and implementation of the park have consistently adhered to the principles of relying on science and technology, promoting development, scientific planning, and comprehensive improvement. According to the planned layout, four industrial belts have been established within the park: a grain and oil base, a vegetable base, an aquaculture base, and a ginkgo base. Over the past three years, the park has largely completed the eight foundational constructions and facilities outlined in the plan: land consolidation projects. On the premise of reclaiming land for grain fields and enhancing soil fertility to boost yields, over 580,000 cubic meters of earth were excavated, 3.5 kilometers of new river channels were dug, net arable land increased by 556 mu, and 5,000 mu of standardized grain fields were constructed; high-standard farmland water conservancy projects, designed with a high starting point and high standards, built 20.08 kilometers of effective disaster-prevention and flood-resistant open and covered ditches, laid 12.3 kilometers of field roads, implemented underground subsurface drainage on 1,000 mu, reinforced 2.3 kilometers of stream embankments, and built one standardized high-efficiency irrigation and drainage pumping station; agricultural mechanization equipment projects, adding 46 sets of machinery with various technical functions, achieving 1.2 kilowatts of power per mu, establishing a specialized agricultural machinery team, with mechanized harvesting and planting operations reaching over 92%;

Farmland environmental greening supporting projects, including the planting of 73,000 trees for farmland greening and beautification, laying 26,000 square meters of lawns, with a total greenbelt length of 27.9 kilometers; ginkgo forest renovation projects, aimed at improving the overall land utilization rate and comprehensive benefits of the park, establishing a ginkgo science and technology demonstration park, planting over 80,000 ginkgo trees covering an area of 2,000 mu; construction of a comprehensive park service center, featuring a multifunctional facility with a floor area of 1,600 square meters; implementation of science and technology demonstration and extension projects, establishing a seed bank, with new varieties and eco-friendly (new) fertilizers and pesticides achieving a 100% promotion rate across the town; implementation of a large-scale grain field management mechanism, establishing one park-operated farm, three village-operated farms, supporting six large-scale planting households, with large-scale management covering 70% of the park area.

Dingshu Town: Dingshu Town, Yixing City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the Yangtze River Delta Economic Development Zone. It borders Taihu Lake to the east and the foothills of the Tianmu Mountains to the west, covering an area of 73 square kilometers with a population of 140,000, and is part of Yixing’s urban area. In 2000, Jiangsu Province positioned Yixing as “China’s famous Pottery Capital, an important industrial tourism city in Jiangsu Province, and a commercial and comprehensive service city in the border region of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui.”

Dingshu Town is embraced by mountains and water, boasts beautiful scenery, and is rich in cultural heritage. It is an important part of the renowned Yangxian Scenic Area and one of the tourist destinations in the Jiangnan region.
