Yixing Nanyue Temple

Yixing Nanyue Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Nanyue Temple, located seven kilometers southwest of Yixing City in Jiangsu Province on Nanyue Mountain. Built in the second year of the Yongming era during the Qi Dynasty (484), it was then known as "Nanyue Chan Temple" and is an ancient and renowned temple in southern China.

The ancient Nanyue Temple suffered severe damage from wars, and was almost completely burned down by Japanese forces during the Anti-Japanese War. After the reform and opening-up, it was approved for restoration by the Yixing Municipal People's Government and reopened to the public in September 1988. It has since become a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists as well as Buddhist devotees seeking blessings and sightseeing.
