Luosidun Site

The Luosidun Site is located in Yangxiang Neighborhood Committee, Yangxiang Town, Yixing City, and is a Neolithic-period site. In May 2009, the Yixing Municipal People's Government designated it as a municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit. On December 19, 2011, the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government listed it as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units.

The Luosidun Site extends south to Guangtong Road, east to Anqian Road, and north to Qingquan Road. (In the spring of 1954, when new school buildings were constructed at Yangxiang Middle School, a number of cultural relics were unearthed, including polished stone axes, adzes, chisels, knives, and perforated stone axes. From 1979 to 1981, cultural relics were continuously discovered in the site area over multiple years. Following two investigative studies by the archaeological team of the Nanjing Museum, Luosidun was confirmed to be a Neolithic site dating back five thousand years. To this day, the surface still contains fragments of Neolithic pottery, and the stratigraphic profile features abundant accumulations of screw shell remains and rich cultural layers.)

Yangxiang Town: Located in the northwest of Yixing City, Yangxiang Town sits at the junction of Yixing, Jintan, and Liyang, and is one of Wuxi’s emerging small towns. The area enjoys a mild climate with distinct seasons, fertile land, and abundant resources, making it a typical water town in the Jiangnan region. The town covers a total area of 86.42 square kilometers, has a population of 49,200, and administers 23 administrative villages and two neighborhood committees.
