Qiaodu Bridge

Qiaodu Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Yixing City.

Qiaodu Bridge is located in Qiaodu Village, Xinzhuang Subdistrict, Yixing City. In March 2003, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the Yixing Municipal People's Government. In June 2006, it was further recognized as a provincial-level cultural heritage site by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government.

Qiaodu Bridge was built during the Chenghua era of the Ming Dynasty (1465–1487) and was renovated in 1917. Inside the bridge’s arch, there are inscribed stone plaques from the Chenghua and Jiajing eras of the Ming Dynasty. It is a single-arch stone bridge constructed from a mix of bluestone, Yangshan stone, and granite, stretching from north to south (with a slight westward orientation of 35°). There are 14 stone steps on both the northern and southern sides. The bridge is 14.70 meters long, 2.40 meters wide at the center, and 3.10 meters wide at the approaches, with a slope of 12°. The clear span of the arch is 5.25 meters, and the height from the base to the apex is 2.85 meters. The old streets at both ends of the bridge stretch approximately 100 meters and still retain the architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties, blending harmoniously with the bridge in a quaint and cohesive setting.

Xinzhuang Subdistrict: Xinzhuang Subdistrict is located in the eastern part of Yixing City. It covers an area of 44 square kilometers and has a population of 38,000. The subdistrict government is headquartered on Zhenze Road in Xinzhuang, situated 11 kilometers east of the Yixing municipal government. It borders Taihu Lake to the east, Dingshu Town to the south, Yicheng Subdistrict to the west, and Zhoutie Town to the north. The subdistrict administers 11 villages — Qiaodu, Hexin, Hongxiang, Xinzhuang, Suyang, Dongmiao, Xibei, Shiban, Maqiao, Futu, and Zhongxin — and two community committees: Zhenze and Nanyang.
