Jin Tang Bridge

Jin Tang Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected by Yixing City.

Jin Tang Bridge is located in Jin Tang Village, Xushe Town, Yixing City, spanning the Zhong (Stream)–Zhang (Zhu) Canal. In June 1983, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the Yixing Municipal People's Government. In June 2006, it was further recognized as a provincial-level cultural heritage site by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government.

Jin Tang Bridge is a three-arch stone bridge. It was first initiated for construction in the 30th year of the Ming Jiajing era (1551) through the donation and advocacy of Qian Ao and fundraising by Li Jin, and was later renovated in the 25th year of the Qing Kangxi era (1686) with funding from Qian Zhilin, the great-great-grandson of Qian Ao. The bridge is built with a mix of bluestone and granite. It has a total length of 52 meters, with the central arch having a rise of 5.4 meters and a span of 9.8 meters, while the two side arches have a rise of 3.8 meters and a span of 7 meters. The structure of Jin Tang Bridge is robust, its design elegant, and its presence majestic, making it the largest surviving stone arch bridge in Yixing.

Xushe Town: As a renowned town in the south of the Yangtze River, Xushe Town is situated in the economically developed Yangtze River Delta, located in the western suburbs of Yixing City — China’s Pottery Capital. It serves as a central town integrating economy, culture, finance, transportation, and trade, and is recognized as a key central town of Jiangsu Province as well as a civilized town of Wuxi. The town covers a total area of 73.6 square kilometers, governs 11 administrative villages and 1 community, with a total population of nearly 50,000.

1. Convenient land and water transportation. National Highway 104, the Nanjing–Hangzhou Expressway, and the Wuxi–Shen Canal run through the town, covering a distance of over 20 kilometers. The town has an interchange for the Nanjing–Hangzhou Expressway as well as land and water ports.
