Jiangdian (Dian) Bridge

Jiangdian (Dian) Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Yixing.

Jiangdian (Dian) Bridge, located in Juesi Natural Village, Fangzhuang Village, Xushe Town (by the side of a village-level road), was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the Yixing Municipal People's Government in May 2009.

Constructed during the Qing Dynasty, Jiangdian (Dian) Bridge is a three-span stone beam bridge and features the longest span of any flat bridge in Yixing. It runs in a north-south direction (slightly northwest at 25°) and is built with a mix of bluestone and granite — the bridge deck is granite while the rest is bluestone. The bridge has a total length of 36.26 meters, a central width of 2.16 meters, a clear span of 8 meters for the central opening, and a height of 4.15 meters from the bottom of the bridge to the water surface. The northern slope is 6.50 meters long with an 8° incline and a ramp width of 3.20 meters; the southern slope is 6.30 meters long with a ramp width of 3 meters and a flat ramp section of 7.70 meters. Both the northern and southern bridge piers are 4.40 meters wide and 1.25 meters thick. The central bridge slabs are 0.80 meters long and 0.75 meters wide, with a total of 14 pieces. The central pier stones feature spiral patterns. The bridge is equipped with four railing pillars, each 1 meter high and 0.26 meters thick and wide. Three of them are made of bluestone, while the one on the south side is granite; the tops of the pillars are decorated with lotus leaf motifs, possibly dating back to the Ming Dynasty.

It serves as a central hub for economy, culture, finance, transportation, and trade, and is recognized as a key central town in Jiangsu Province as well as a Civilized Town in Wuxi. The town covers a total area of 73.6 square kilometers, governs 11 administrative villages and 1 community, with a total population of nearly 50,000.

1. Convenient land and water transportation. National Highway 104, the Nanjing-Hangzhou Expressway, and the Wu-Xi Canal run through the town for over 20 kilometers. The town has access to the Nanjing-Hangzhou Expressway interchange and both land and water ports.
