The Ren Family Chastity and Filial Piety Archway

The Ren Family Chastity and Filial Piety Archway is a cultural relics protection unit of Yixing City.

The Ren Family Chastity and Filial Piety Archway is located in Wuxu Village, Xinjie Town, Yixing City. In November 1996, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit by the Yixing Municipal People’s Government.

Constructed in the ninth year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1744), the archway has a single-bay, double-pillar, three-story structure with granite columns and bluestone crossbeams and roof. The central plaque above the crossbeam is inscribed with the two characters “Chastity” (贞节), and the lower crossbeam is engraved with: “Archway Honoring Madam Ren, Wife of Pan Sunyan.” It also features relief carvings of motifs such as dragons playing with a pearl, phoenixes, and stylized floral patterns. The total width is 2.70 meters, and the height is 4.65 meters.

Environmental Technology Park (Xinjie Subdistrict): In 2007, Xinjie Town was abolished, and its former jurisdictional area was merged with two neighborhood committees—Lüyuan and Wenchang—managed by Yicheng Subdistrict, along with five village committees—Nanhe, Tongfeng, Nanyue, Meijiang, and Xieqiao—to establish Xinjie Subdistrict in Yixing City, Jiangsu Province.
