Xueyin Bridge

Xueyin Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Yixing City.

Xueyin Bridge, commonly known as Huangjia Bridge, is located in Huangjia Natural Village, Dapu Village, Dingshu Town, Yixing City. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site in November 1996.

Xueyin Bridge was built in the 24th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1898) as a single-arch stone bridge, oriented east-west and slightly southeast at 10°. Each side has 24 stone steps, with a bluestone foundation. The arch stones, bridge deck, and railings are all made of granite. The bridge is 13.24 meters long, 3.38 meters wide at the center, and 3.80 meters wide at the approaches. The clear span of the arch is 5.95 meters, with a rise of 3.60 meters. The western slope is 14°, and the eastern slope is 13°. A stele from the 15th year of the Guangxu reign (1899), titled “Record of the Reconstruction of Xueyin Bridge,” lies fallen in front of an old house on the eastern side of the bridge. The stele is 1.40 meters high and 0.80 meters wide, with the inscription “mid-autumn month of the year of Ji Hai” at the end, though the rest of the text is somewhat faded. Inside a nearby house, there is another stele named “Yongxi Hall,” inscribed with “early summer month of the year of Ji Hai during the Daoguang reign.”
