Yunjijiao Bridge

Yunjijiao Bridge is located about 400 meters east of Qianxie Natural Village, Dasheng Village, Heqiao Town, Yixing City. In March 2003, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the Yixing Municipal People's Government.

Constructed during the Qing Dynasty, Yunjijiao Bridge is a single-arch stone bridge oriented from north to south (slightly west of south at 33°), built with a combination of bluestone and granite — the main bridge body is bluestone, while the arch rings and the bridge deck steps are made of granite. The total length of the bridge is 19.40 meters, with a central width of 3.60 meters, a clear span of 5.37 meters, and a height of 3.10 meters. The northern slope is 8.85 meters long with a base width of 3.78 meters and a slope angle of 11°; the flat base section is 3.20 meters long, 3.66 meters wide at the top and 3.77 meters wide at the bottom. The southern slope is 8.88 meters long. The bridge inscription stone (bridge deck length) is 1.66 meters. The bearing stones are 3.80 meters long and 0.45 meters wide, spaced 4.40 meters apart. Each side has 20 stone steps. The bridge is equipped with long rectangular bluestone railings, 0.42 meters in height. About ten meters south of the bridge stands a square pavilion with granite pillars and roof, measuring 2.22 meters on each side. Inside the pavilion is preserved a stone stele from the 25th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1899), documenting the bridge’s restoration. The stele, known as the “Yunjijiao Bridge Stele Inscription,” is made of bluestone, standing 2.60 meters tall and 1.07 meters wide.
