Alley Bridge

Alley Bridge, situated in Wenzhuang Village, Qiting Subdistrict (between Chejia and Xuejia natural villages), was declared a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit by the Yixing Municipal People's Government in March 2003.

Alley Bridge was built during the Qing Dynasty as a single-arch stone bridge, oriented north-south (35° west of south). Each side has 10 stone steps, and the structure is built from bluestone. The bridge is 12.50 meters long, 2.40 meters wide at the center, and 2.70 meters wide at the abutments, with a slope of 12°. The clear span of the arch is 4.50 meters, and the rise is 2.80 meters. The characters “Alley Bridge” (巷大桥) are inscribed in relief on both sides at the top of the bridge. The bridge has no railings, but mortise holes on the side stones suggest that wooden railings could be installed. Before the 1950s, Alley Bridge served as a land route connecting Gaocheng and Hongta to downtown Yixing.

Economic Development Zone (Qiting Subdistrict): In 2006, Qiting Town was abolished, and its former jurisdiction was reorganized as Qiting Subdistrict Office. The office administers one neighborhood committee and seven village committees.

In 2007, seven village committees—Huawei, Dongmei, Xingli, Wenzhuang, Zhen Village, Dongjiao, and Bianzhuang—from Yicheng Subdistrict were placed under the administration of Qiting Subdistrict.
