Guanlin Bridge

Guanlin Bridge, located on Guanxin Street in Guanlin Town, Yixing City, was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the Yixing Municipal People's Government in March 2003.

Also known as "Sun Family Bridge," Guanlin Bridge was built in the fourth year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1878). It is a single-arch stone bridge oriented from east to west, with 23 steps on each side, and is constructed from granite. The overall length of the bridge is 25.40 meters, with the bridge deck measuring 3.07 meters long, a central width of 3.75 meters, and an approach width of 4.40 meters. The clear span of the bridge arch is 8 meters, with a rise of 5.50 meters. The western slope is 11.30 meters long, and the lower approach coping stone is 5.05 meters long; the western flat approach is 2.15 meters long, with a width of 5 meters. The spacing between the central coping stones is 4.65 meters, while that of the side coping stones is 9.25 meters. Each coping stone is 0.50 meters wide and 0.40 meters thick. The bridge railings are 0.48 × 0.48 meters in width and thickness. The bridge inscription reads: “Reconstructed Guanlin Bridge, Guangxu Jiachen.” At both ends of the bridge railing, there is a pair of recumbent lions. The two sides of the bridge arch are inscribed with relief regular-script couplets. The southern side reads: “Tracing its origins to Eastern Wu, it has stood firm for a thousand autumns; calming the waves, it connects to the northern Ge, where numerous waterways flow in a loop.” The northern side reads: “A constant stream of carts and boats... ancient relics; a gathering of officials and nobles records the bold spirit of inscribed plaques.”
