Xicheng Bridge

Xicheng Bridge, located at the eastern end of Lüjia Natural Village, Xicun, Gaocheng Town, Yixing City, was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit by the Yixing Municipal People's Government in March 2003.

Xicheng Bridge was built in the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929) as a single-arch stone bridge, oriented east-west (35° southeast of due south), and constructed with a mix of bluestone and granite. The main body of the bridge is bluestone, while the bridge deck, steps, arch, and pillow stones are made of granite. The bridge has a total length of 20.72 meters, a deck length of 2.10 meters, a central width of 3.40 meters, and an abutment width of 3.75 meters. The clear span of the arch is 7.20 meters, with a rise of 4.57 meters. The pillow stones are 4.10 meters long and 0.20 meters wide, spaced 5.80 meters apart. The ramp length is 9.30 meters with a slope of 15°. The bridge deck features a vortex-patterned lintel stone, and there are 20 stone steps on each side of the bridge, with tread stones in between.
