Dacheng Taiping Bridge

Dacheng Taiping Bridge, commonly known as Xian’an Bridge, is located in Zixi Team (next to Xixi Xian’an), Dacheng Village, Xinzhuang Subdistrict, Yixing City. In May 2009, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the Yixing Municipal People’s Government.

Constructed in the fourth year of the Tianqi era of the Ming Dynasty (1624), Dacheng Taiping Bridge is a single-arch stone bridge oriented east-west (35° northwest of due west) and built from bluestone. The bridge has an overall length of 10.10 meters, a central width of 2.55 meters, a clear span of 3.40 meters, a rise of 2.30 meters, and a height from the base of the bridge to the water surface of 2.50 meters. The ramp length is 6 meters, the abutment width is 3 meters, and the slope is 15°. The pillow stones are 2.80 meters long, 0.24 meters wide, and 0.18 meters thick, spaced 2.80 meters apart. The arch stones are 0.20 meters thick, and the decorative arch stones are 0.09 meters thick. The bridge inscription reads “Reconstructed Taiping Bridge.” The inscription stone is 1 meter long, 0.45 meters wide, and 0.20 meters thick.

Xinzhuang Subdistrict: Located in the eastern part of Yixing City, Xinzhuang Subdistrict covers an area of 44 square kilometers and has a population of 38,000. The subdistrict government is headquartered on Zhenze Road in Xinzhuang, approximately 11 kilometers east of the Yixing municipal government seat. It borders Taihu Lake to the east, Dingshu Town to the south, Yicheng Subdistrict to the west, and Zhoutie Town to the north.
