Former Residence of Gu Jingzhou

The former residence of Gu Jingzhou is located at No. 16, East Taoji Area, Dingshu Town. In May 2009, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit by the Yixing Municipal People's Government.

The residence faces south and is oriented northward, spanning three bays with a width of 12.35 meters and a depth of 11.30 meters, with the easternmost bay recessed by 4.30 meters. The entire structure is a two-story building, situated close to a small river on the southeast side, with the scenic Longxi Park lying across the water. Gu Jingzhou once lived at No. 78, South Shushan Street, in a house belonging to the Wu Tonggou family, and also resided in the home of Mao Zhensheng. Since the establishment of the Shushan Pottery Cooperative in 1954, he had moved homes 16 times. The current Gu Jingzhou Former Residence, located next to Longxi Park, was where he lived from 1990 until his passing in 1996 — the place of his later years.
