Dongxi Lian Island Scenic Area

The Lian Island Scenic Area is located to the north of Lianyungang. Also known as Yingyou Mountain, the *Yuntai Mountain Annals* states: “Flocks of eagles often gather here,” hence the name. The mountain floats amid the sea, surrounded by birds flying together and chirping noisily, which is why it is also called Yingyou (Chirping Birds) Mountain.

The island is approximately 5.5 kilometers long from east to west and 1.5

kilometers wide from north to south, with an area of 5.6 square kilometers. It is the largest island in Jiangsu Province. The area’s famous attraction, Lian Island Beach, is the largest natural high-quality beach in Jiangsu.

The terrain of Lian Island is rugged, with continuous peaks and lush greenery, resembling a beautiful natural barrier in the sea. To the east is East Lian Island, home to hundreds of fishing households nestled within the verdant mountain inlets. To the west is West Lian Island, where several fishing villages are situated on the surrounding hills, densely clustered along the slopes. In the central southern part of the island lies a ferry terminal.

Additionally, in the southwestern part of the island, there is a ridgeline

that juts out into the sea, called Zengjia Zui (Net Rack Cape). Two li west of the cape, in a secluded inlet, stands Zhenhai Temple, built during the Qing Dynasty's Kangxi era. The temple was grand but was later destroyed in war. In front of the temple lies Miaoqian Bay, an ideal spot for fishing boats to gather, wait for the tide, and take shelter from the wind. A simple pier has now been constructed here where fresh fish and shrimp can be offloaded. T

From Xinpu in the city center, take bus No. 33 (fare: 2 RMB) to get there. During summer and autumn, tourist shuttle buses are available from Xinpu Hualian, Xugou Railway Haitang Road Crossing, and Haizhou West Gate.

Driving to Lian Island: Take the Inner Ring Road – Hu-Jia Expressway (A12) – Yanjiang Expressway – Sutong Bridge – Coastal Expressway – Lianxu Expressway – West Dike – Lian Island.

8:30–18:00. Peak season: April 28 – October 27; Off-season: October 28 – April 27 of the following year.

Ticket information:

Peak season (April 29 – October 31): 50 RMB; Off-season (November 1 – April 28): 30 RMB. Students receive a 50% discount. Children under 1.3 meters, military personnel, people with disabilities, and seniors over 70 enjoy free admission. Tickets may even be free in winter and spring. Ticket sales end at 17:30.
