West Dyke

Stretching from Huangyingzui in Xugou to the opposite shore of Xilian Island, the West Dyke spans 6,700 meters, making it the longest sea-crossing dyke in China. The dyke also channels a steady stream of tourists to the Xilian Island Beach, turning the area into a popular tourist hotspot.

Complementing the West Dyke is the Yuntai Mountain Highway Tunnel, which stretches 3,838 meters and is one of the longer highway tunnels in China. Driving through the tunnel feels like a cinematic cut, instantly transporting visitors from the bustling harbor filled with ship horns and machinery roars to the idyllic paradise of Sucheng, surrounded by lush forests and the gentle sound of mountain springs. The transition from sea to valley, from noise to tranquility, happens in the blink of an eye.

The nightlife at Lianyungang Port is extraordinarily dazzling, with lights shining brilliantly along over 10 kilometers of coastline. The West Dyke resembles a golden dragon spanning the sea, adorned with flickering colored signal lights and navigation lamps. The stately glows of ships in the sea drift slowly, fishing boat lights twinkle on and off, and when combined with the countless lights across the shore, they form a transparent crystal palace.

Since the completion of the 10,000-kilometer-long New Eurasian Land Bridge, Lianyungang, as the Eastern Bridgehead, has drawn even more attention. The landmark monument marking the starting point of the Eastern Bridgehead is located at the container terminal and features an anchor sculpture. When Premier Li Peng visited Lianyungang, he took a commemorative photo in front of the landmark monument. Raising his right arm cheerfully, he said, “This is where the starting point of the New Eurasian Land Bridge is!”
