Suocheng Shangri-La Scenic Area

Suocheng Shangri-La Scenic Area is located in Suocheng Township, Lianyun District, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. It is a national forest park and a national scenic area. Known for its serene and secluded charm, the scenic area combines the natural beauty of mountain wilderness. Attractions include Baojia Mountain, Immortal’s Cave, Chuanshan Waterfall, Reclining Dragon Pine, the reservoir, and Diamond Rock. The petite and exquisite Baojia Mountain resembles a miniature mountain rock bonsai. On the mountain there is a natural stone cave (commonly known as “Immortal’s Cave”), which is 13 meters long and 2 meters high, featuring an overhanging roof for shade and complete with windows and doors.

The scenic area is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the sea on one, boasting beautiful landscapes, tranquil scenery, a long history, and numerous historic sites. The great Jin Dynasty poet Tao Yuanming once visited this place, and legend has it that his famous work “The Peach Blossom Spring” was inspired by this location. Since ancient times, it has been a renowned tourist destination, often referred to as a “Shangri-La.” Highlights of the scenic area: Suocheng Shangri-La Scenic Area is known for its tranquility and blends natural mountain wilderness landscapes. There are many attractions within the area, but the most spectacular is the Chuanshan Waterfall. The waterfall cascades down the valley, with mist from the mid-mountain drifting with the stream, while its three-tiered falls appear and disappear amid the ravine.
