The Shoushan Stone Carvings in Sucheng

From May to July 1938, Japanese invasion forces, aiming to achieve their plans for the Battle of Xuzhou and to occupy the Jinpu Railway, attempted to land at Lianyungang. With the cooperation of the 667th Regiment and the 672nd Regiment of the 112th Division of the 57th Army of the Northeast Army, as well as the 8th Army of the National Revolutionary Army and the 2nd Guerrilla Column, they repeatedly repelled the landing Japanese troops, defending the nation's territory. To commemorate the fearless courage and valiant fighting spirit of the anti-Japanese forces, multiple stone carvings were engraved on the rocks of Shoushan Mountain in Sucheng, including inscriptions such as “Defend Our Motherland,” “Protect Our Territory, Revive China,” as well as records of the battle events.
