The Lianyungang Seafood Gourmet Cultural Tourism Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Lianyungang boasts over 200 kilometers of coastline and is home to the Haizhou Bay Fishing Ground, one of China’s eight renowned fishing grounds. Spanning 7,900 square nautical miles, the surface water temperature in Haizhou Bay averages between 14.4–15.7°C annually, making it famous for its abundant marine life, including nearly 100 varieties of fish, shrimp, crabs, and shellfish.

Originally known as Xugou Seafood Street, the Xugou Seafood Gourmet City was established in 1998, covering an area of approximately 6,000 square meters. In 2010, an investment of 150 million yuan was made to renovate “Xugou Seafood Street.” The upgraded Xugou Seafood Gourmet City now spans 45 acres, with a total construction area of 33,000 square meters, 52 shops, 369 motor vehicle parking spaces, and 347 private dining rooms of various sizes, capable of accommodating 3,470 guests simultaneously. The area’s 30 merchants receive an average daily foot traffic of over 2,000 visitors. Leveraging the rich marine resources of the Haizhou Bay, such as swimming crabs, fish, shrimp, and shellfish, the area offers over a hundred varieties of seafood. It combines uniquely local cooking techniques, a deep-rooted folk culture, and a distinctive fishing village ambiance, earning nationwide acclaim for its seafood flavors.

To further establish the premier brand image of Lianyungang’s seafood gourmet culture and develop the commercial economic zone of the eastern urban area, the Xugou Seafood Gourmet City has hosted events such as the Lianyungang International Journey to the West Culture (Tourism) Festival and the First Xugou Seafood Gourmet City Seafood Culture & Food Festival, as well as the Second China Lianyungang Seafood Culture & Food Festival and the First Green Seafood Industry Development Forum. A series of activities have been carried out, including the selection of the “Top Ten Lianyungang Seafood Specialties” and the launch of the “Customer Experience Group,” all aimed at building a reputation for delicious and affordable seafood. The Xugou Seafood Gourmet City was also the first to establish its own online platform, using digital channels to expand into the national seafood dining market. It has received numerous honors, including the “China Seafood Gourmet City” title awarded by the China Hotel Association, “Integrity Operation Model Enterprise” and “Vice President Unit” from the Jiangsu Catering Industry Association, “Jiangsu Quality Service Star Unit” from Jiangsu Media Group, “Specially Recommended Tourism Dining Venue” from the Lianyungang Tourism Association, and “Advanced Area in the Lianyungang Trustworthy Consumption Campaign” from the Lianyungang Trustworthy Consumption Promotion Leadership Group.
