The ruins of Huangtan Temple are a cultural heritage site protected by Lianyungang’s Lianyun District.

The ruins of Huangtan Temple are located atop Longtou Peak in Xugou Subdistrict. To its east and west are deep valleys, to the south it faces Yanmen Peak on Nanshan Mountain in Xugou, and to the north it connects with Yandun Mountain, overlooking the Xugou Port area from above.

Huangtan Temple was first built in the early Qing Dynasty and was renovated in the 27th year of the Daoguang reign (1847). It is a single-bay structure, 4.2 meters wide, 3.5 meters deep, and 2.6 meters high, with a 1.8-meter-wide veranda. It has a flush-gable roof. The roof is covered by seven stone slabs laid on top of each other, without beams. The stone lintel above the door is inscribed with the three characters “黄谭庙” (Huangtan Temple). Inside the temple, a sacrificial altar remains, flanked by carved stone couplets. The lintel is in regular script, and the couplets are also in regular script. In front of the door is a screen wall built of brick, 2.3 meters high and 2.8 meters wide, with a single eave. Inside the wall is a niche, 60 cm high, 40 cm wide, and 40 cm deep. Huangtan Temple stands alone atop the mountain, is rarely visited, and is well preserved.
