The Former Site of Lianyungang People's Theater is a cultural relic protection unit of Lianyungang City.

The Lianyun People's Theater site is located at the southern end of Yuntai Road, Linhai Community, Lianyun Subdistrict, Lianyun District, Lianyungang City. It was originally the Tongle Theater from the 1930s, converted to the Workers' Theater in 1953, and rebuilt as the People's Theater in 1958, with additions including a stage, dressing rooms, and auditorium in 1978. The building covers an area of 1,100 square meters and has 838 seats. The theater structure is made of wood and stone, with a depth of 41.8 meters and width of 16.9 meters. The front hall is a two-story building, 10.8 meters deep and 3.6 meters wide. The front porch is 4.8 meters deep and 2.8 meters wide, with four porch columns each 0.78 meters in diameter and 3.14 meters high, spaced 3.1 meters apart. The entrance hall has three doors, each 1.3 meters wide and 2.1 meters high. This theater is the earliest of its kind in Lianyun District.

Lianyun Subdistrict: The Lianyun Subdistrict Office is situated at the Port of Lianyungang. Originally known as Laoyao, it started being called Lianyun after 1933 (the 22nd year of the Republic of China), derived from the first characters of “Lian Island” and “Yuntai Mountain,” symbolizing "a bustling port with ships as numerous as clouds and thriving maritime trade." The Longhai and Lanzhou-Xinjiang railways, key east-west arteries across China, extend westward from here, making Lianyun Subdistrict the eastern gateway of the New Eurasian Land Bridge. In 2003, with approval from the Jiangsu Provincial Government, the former Lianyungang Town was abolished and the Lianyun Subdistrict was established. In February 2005, the municipal government approved the merger with the former Ta’an Subdistrict to form the new Lianyun Subdistrict.
