Zhenya Bridge and Inscriptions (1924)

Zhenya Bridge is located on the west side of the southern slope of Hukou Ridge, in Liuyunling Village, Sucheng Subdistrict, Lianyungang City. It was built in the 13th year of the Republic of China (1924) by Zhenya, the supervisor of Fayiqi Temple. The bridge is entirely made of stone, with the bridge deck paved with long flagstones and the piers constructed from block stones. Before the 1960s, this bridge served for a long time as the only passage for local villagers to enter and exit Sucheng Mountain, and it was also the main route for pilgrims visiting the mountain to offer incense before the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The Inscription of Zhenya Bridge is the engraved naming plaque of the bridge. It is located about 40 meters south of Zhenya Bridge and about 200 meters north of Ziwu Pavilion. The inscribed face is oriented southeast, with the main text in clerical script and the signature in regular script. The inscribed panel is 162 cm wide and 55 cm high, with characters measuring 40×30 cm and the signature 10×8 cm. The inscription was carved in the 13th year of the Republic of China (1924). The text reads: “Zhenya Bridge. In the first cyclical year of the Republic, Zhenya built this; inscribed by Xu Hongbin.”
